The Office of Information Technology’s Application team is seeking Systems Team Leader to provide oversight for a variety of regulatory and analytical applications.  This individual will supervise a team of developers and analysts who support the mission of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

This position offers the opportunity to direct the development and maintenance of IT systems spanning several technologies including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, .NET, MS Access, and Crystal Reports. There will be plenty of variety in the work, and you will have the opportunity to lead a fantastic team of seasoned developers!     


ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:                    

This is technical work in managing a project team involved in the analysis, design, and programming of various systems and their adaptation to electronic data processing.  Work includes directing a project team on a continuous basis; developing project time lines and cost estimates; allocating team resources; and ensuring project feasibility, timeliness, and quality. This position works closely with user management personnel. Work is performed under limited supervision.

  • Oversee a dynamic team of highly talented programmers, analysts and DBAs, gaining experience as you collaborate on solutions.
  • Partner with business users, and have the opportunity to craft robust solutions to a variety of IT challenges.
  • This position is in Augusta, Maine.



You will lead a software development team of 7 to 10 highly trained and motivated developers.  You will work closely with DEP business partners in order to define and manage application development needs.  You will ensure that 40+ DEP IT systems continue operating with minimal service disruptions.  You will partner with others in OIT Management in order to realize our organizational goals. You will also be supporting the DEP’s mission to protect the environment for all of Maine’s citizens, visitors and subsequent generations!



To qualify, you must have at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in application system analysis and programming including a minimum of one (1) year in a working supervisor role.

SALARY:   Job Class Code:  0868                    Pay Grade: 29 – $58,406.40 - $80,038.40 annually

*Includes a 10% recruitment and retention salary.



The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement:  15.37% of salary for BU positions.  The value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $13.13 biweekly. The value* of State-paid Health Insurance: 

  • Level 1:  100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):   $444.68 biweekly
  • Level 2:  95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):             $422.45 biweekly
  • Level 3:  90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):           $400.21 biweekly
  • Level 4:  85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):           $377.98 biweekly

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status regarding the health credit premium program.
